Detail

Beta 1,3/1,6 Glucan

Beta glucan naturally occurs in the cell walls of cereals, yeasts, and certain fungi. For many decades, the world’s top medical schools have researched how beta glucan helps to regulate the human immune system and improve its efficacy.

Inter Pharma’s Beta Glucan Plus derives the most potent form of beta glucan from the cell wall of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, a type of yeast. Beta 1,3/1,6 glucan has been determined to be best for boosting immunity, compared to other forms such as beta 1,4 glucan.

When it is smaller than 5 microns, beta 1,3/1,6 glucan is able to bind to white blood cell receptors, the Dectin-1 receptor of macrophage and the CR3 receptor of neutrophils. Beta glucan stimulates immune cells that ingest and destroy invading pathogens, while stimulating white blood cells that bind to tumors or viruses to attack them. For those whose immune systems have been weakened by chronic illness or by treatments such as radiation or chemotherapy, beta glucan intake can help to prevent infection from other diseases.

Additionally, as beta 1,3/1,6 glucan is an insoluble fiber, it can help to reduce cholesterol levels.

Benefits for skin

Numerous medical studies have reported on beta glucan’s health benefits such as the healing of wounds. Beta glucan activates the Langerhans cell to boost the skin’s immunity system. When beta glucan binds to fibroblasts (connective tissue cells), the latter produces collagen, hyaluronic acid and elastin. Apart from preserving the health of skin, beta glucans can activate the body’s natural mechanisms to heal wounds. Those with persistent skin problems such as dermatitis, eczema, bedsores and diabetic ulcers are mostly likely to benefit from beta glucan intake.

Gamma Oryzanol

Gamma Oryzanol is a potent antioxidant, derived from barley, corn and rice. It has been shown to be efficient in preventing tissue oxidation by scavenging free radicals and blocking inflammatory responses, inhibits Tyrosinase enzyme activity resulting in radiance and brighter skin and anti-aging effect. Studies also suggest that it can prevent breast, liver, lung and colorectal cancers. There has also been extensive research that demonstrates gamma oryzanol has more cholesterol-lowering properties than olive oil. In addition, it lowers bad cholesterol while increasing good cholesterol at the same time which also helps in reducing risk of heart problems.

Coenzyme Q10

Found in most cells in the body, CoQ10 is a powerful antioxidant that combats free radicals and may help with heart-related conditions. Several clinical studies suggest that CoQ10 may reduce chemotherapy side effects in cancer patients, Preliminary studies suggest that CoQ10 may improve immune function in people with HIV or AIDS as it promotes cell repair.
